MQ1: Mom’s Greatest Fear

This blog is special to me as it talks about mommyhood and my insights as a mom and a wife. I thought it will be great to have some sort of interaction with my fellow mom visitors by having them voice out their opinions or thoughts about some topics that are close to my heart.

So I’m starting this sort of blog carnival. Each week, I’ll post a question with my own thoughts and answers. Then I’m tagging fellow blogger mommies to post their thoughts on the same question in their blogs. The question is not only limited to those who are tagged but also open to all who would like to participate. If you decide to join, please leave a link of your blog post on the comment section so that we can look at each other’s answers.

Okay, so for this week the Question is: What is your Greatest Fear as a Mom?

My Answer: Others may call it shallow but my greatest fear is that my son would prefer the nanny over me. I am a working mom and I don’t get the chance to be with my son everyday. I’ve seen a lot of moms in the same situation like me that their children prefer their yayas over them.

I think that’s really unfair and I wouldn’t want that to happen to me. So right from the very beginning, I am determined to breastfeed as this strengthens the bond between mother and child. It also calls for exclusive time for bonding. I also made it a point to take care of him at night. This is really tough because when he was little, I did not get enough sleep. But I don’t want to delegate the task of taking care of him whenever I’m home. I want him to be attached to me even if I don’t spend the whole day with him.

During weekends, I spend all my time taking care and playing with him. I also bring him wherever I go. I want to practice attachment parenting the best way I could in my situation.

I’m glad my fear did not become a reality. He still prefers mommy over anybody else.

i think it’s a legitimate fear, nice…that was the very first thing i thought when I was contemplating getting a yaya…na baka mas mahalin pa nya yaya nya kesa sakin, waaaaa, kaloka!

i know that feeling nice. i’ve read about that and i know some mommies who felt the same way. and i also feel that coz i sometimes ask our househelp to watch over dwyn while i need to do something else. and i hate that feeling to see dwyn is fond of our househelp. i really get jealous but i just don’t show it.

I say OUR, for this site is a joint collaboration of two working mommies who found each other online and became bosom buddies. They share the same faith, same love for their families, same nurturing instinct for their kids and same business interests. Amore has one daughter aged 3 while Nice has a son aged 1.
